EDGES and MOORS
There is a reason why the Peak District was the first area to be designated a national Park. In 1951, it was decided that this stunning landscape should be preserved.  There are many fabulous walks which can involve miles of off the beaten track routes. There are also some great walks and views accessible on gravels paths and with parking nearby.
Have a look at Stanage Edge & Higger Tor. Burbage Edge has its own parking area and level (ish) walk, with the Fox House pub at the end!
Curbar Edge is also an easy stroll and pretty good for sunsets!

Park the car and relax, Holborn Cottage is located in the beautiful village of Litton. A quintessential Derbyshire village of stone houses, ranging in date from the 1700's to 1900's positioned around a village green and set to a backdrop of grazing fields, a mini rock edge and working dairy farms ( so you will enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of rural farming life).

In the heart of the village, The Red Lion, a fabulous English country pub offering roaring fires, good hearty food and local ales, is just 200 yards away... no need for a designated driver! It gets busy so booking a table is always advised. On sunny days outside seating on the village green is a perfect spot to watch the world wander by (note no children under 6 in the restaurant but are welcome to eat outside).

The village shop and post office is a community enterprise and is surprisingly well stocked with basic food and household items. Youll also be able to pick up fire wood and homebaked cakes.

From the door are lots of walks, either on tarmac for those who like cleaner shoes or if you have walking boots try the trails through the Cressbrook Dale gorge, where if you are lucky you'll see the early purple orchids growing wild and see Peter's Mount rocky outcrop.

If you don't fancy cooking during your stay, Tideswell , the 'Cathedral of the Peak', is an easy 25 min stroll along cute country lanes. There you will find independent pubs, restaurants,  cafes and shops. Within a few miles drive you'll be spoilt for choice with a selection of Michelin guide pubs and restaurants.

Within 15 mins drive you have the lovely villages of Bakewell, Eyam (the plague village), Castleton and many more. You can also access the fabulous Dark Peak with its rolling baren moors and stunning rock edges such as Burbage and Stannage. Be sure to pack some sturdy boots to get out and enjoy the miles of footpaths and circular walks. The Monsal trail can be picked up at Millersdale or Hassop stations, where bikes and ebikes can be hired or an easy nearly level walk can be enjoyed with stunning viaducts and tunnels.

Within 20 mins is the spectacular Chatsworth House & Gardens, the spa town of Buxton, and National Trust Longshaw estate where you can walk to the magical Padley Gorge... with gently flowing steams and tumbling waterfalls set in an ancient woodland setting prefect for summer paddling. From here its also possible to walk up on the heather moodland to Owler Tor.
